NETWORK PROGRAMMER
Stormfront Studios is looking for a talented programmer to advance the networking systems of our cutting edge game engine. We are a top independent videogame development company with a proven, 19 year track record working on a high-profile title for next generation systems.
Responsibilities:
- Achieve deep knowledge and control over all gameplay networking systems utilizing TCP/UDP.
- Manage game state during level startup and reconnect
- Work on entity systems to achieve client/server or peer-to-peer data exchange with appropriate latency hiding
- Work with Technical Directors and Project Leads to make and implement architectural decisions.
- Assist integration with patching, lobby, community and other systems
Requirements:
- Professional game development experience.
- Excellent C/C++ proficiency and design skills.
- Experience working with multi-player networking, TCP/UDP, and either client/server or peer-to-peer.
- Experience with deterministic simulation synchronization methods, dead reckoning, and other bandwidth and latency reduction techniques.
Assets:
- Experience with DemonWare, Quazal, GameSpy, and/or Xbox Live.
- Experience with Matchmaking services, ladders, and community support.
- Passion for developing and playing video games.
- Computer Science degree or equivalent professional experience.
